Obituary of Michael F Fabbricatore

South Plainfield - Michael "Mickey" F. Fabbricatore, 83, died Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at home. Born and raised in Newark, Mickey settled to South Plainfield in 1968 with his wife and raised his two children. He was a graduate of South Plainfield High School. An honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army, Mickey served as cook during peace time. Prior to retirement, Mickey worked as a longshoreman in Port Newark for over 51 years. Mickey was a long time and devoted communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church of South Plainfield. He enjoyed watching the New York Yankees, bowling and taking trips to Aruba with family and friends. The best husband, father and grandfather, Mickey adored spending time with his grandchildren, attending their various sport events. He also loved cooking Sunday dinners of gravy and macaroni for his family. Predeceased by his parents, Gaetano and Carmella Fabbricatore and six siblings; surviving are his wife of 61 years, Dolores (Marasco) of South Plainfield; two children, Michael and his wife Maria of Whitehouse Station and Maria Jones and her husband Kevin of South Plainfield; five grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, Nicole, Kevin and Samantha; sister, Rose Haines and a host of nieces, nephews and extended relatives. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 9AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass at 10AM in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Cremation will follow privately. Family and friends may attend visitation on Sunday from 2-6PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mickey's name to a charity of one's choosing.
