Erna M. Howley, 93, of New York City died after a brief illness on December 13, 2013. She was born in South Amboy, NJ and was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, class of 1937.Before retiring she was employed in the Accounting Department of Continental Can Co. of New York City and Norwalk, CT.She was a communicant of St. Monica's R.C. Church and St. Stephen of Hungary's R.C. Church in Manhattan and a volunteer for many years at the Mary Manning Walsh Residence and the New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.She was predeceased by brothers, Thomas Howley in 1926, John J. Howley in 1992, Nicholas B. Howley, Sr. in 1981 and a niece Kathleen E. Howley in 1964.Surviving are a sister, Teresa C. Stollery of Piscataway, nephews Lt. Col. John S. Stollery, Jr. of Falling Waters, W.Va, Richard J. Strolley of Piscataway , Timothy J. Stollery of Hillsborough, Nicholas B. Howley of Keyport, a niece Roberta M. Lombardi of Flemington, six grandnephews, five grandnieces and one great grandnephew. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Erna's name to the St. Stephen of Hungary's parish, 414 E. 82nd Street, New York, NY 10028.
