Michael H. GahrmannNew Market FiremanPiscatawayMichael H. Gahrmann, 56, passed away and made his last call on November 30, 2014. Mike was pride and true Central Jersey; born in New Brunswick, raised in East Brunswick, and resided in Piscataway since 1982.Upon graduating from East Brunswick Middlesex County Vocational High School in 1976, Mike began his career as a Tire Mechanic, employed by Skip and George's Amoco, HandK Tire, and South Jersey Paving, to name a few. 'Tire Mike' also operated his own business, Mike's Tire Service. Always a big-hearted man, Mike wanted to help others. Mike was a member of the Dunellen Knights of Columbus and most importantly a devoted volunteer firefighter of 23 years. 'Fire Mike' served the H.C. Pierce Hose Company in Middlesex, the North Stelton Volunteer Fire Company in Piscataway, and was an active Fireman Engineer up until his death for the New Market Volunteer Fire Company in Piscataway. Mike is survived by his loving parents, Marion and Edward H. Gahrmann Jr.; his sons, Stephen, Adam and Kristin; his brothers, Richard and Natalie, David and Marge, Charles and Sharon, Edward III and Donald and Joseph and Sonia; his nephews, Matthew, Justin, Hunter; his niece, Kaitlyn; and his dear loving friend Gail Verini. Mike is further survived by his best friend and fire chief, William 'Billy' Lemire, as well as his entire brotherhood of firefighters.Funeral services will begin Saturday 8:30 am from the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Rd., Piscataway, NJ followed by a 9:30 am funeral liturgy at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Piscataway. Interment will be in Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway. Visitation hours will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mike's name to the New Market Fire Co. #1 801 South Washington Ave., Piscataway, NJ 08854.
