Ernest C. Peters, Jr., 83, of Piscataway, died on October 4, 2017 at RWJ University Medical Center in Somerset in Somerville.
Born in Somerville, NJ to the late Ernest Sr. and Lucille Peters, he moved to Elizabeth in 1955 before settling in Piscataway 23 years ago.
Mr. Peters proudly served our country in the United States Army. He went on to work as a long distance truck driver with Apgar Brothers in Bound Brook for where he dedicated over 40 years.
Ernest was an avid NASCAR fan and a dedicated New York Giants fan. He enjoyed reading the Star Ledger every day, and most of all, spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his loving children, Mark Steven Peters, Steven Blaine Peters and wife Laurice, Tina Maria Ramos and husband Ricardo, Julie Marie Cruz and husband Isidro, and Gail Marie Battell and husband James, he was a devoted Poppy to his beloved grandchildren, Christina Marie, Matthew Blaine, Andrew Paul, James Edward, and Lily Marie.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 3:00 to 6:00pm at the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway.
Funeral services with military honors will be presented at 6:00PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Ernest's memory to the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org
