Obituary of Roseanne R. Johnson

Middlesex, NJ - On December 14, 2016, Roseanne R. (Rigney) Johnson, 84, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bayonne to her late parents William and Anna M. (O'Donnell) Rigney, she grew up in Bayonne. On September 26, 1953 she married Nathan Johnson, her best friend for life. She and Nat settled in Middlesex fifty-four years ago to raise their family. Roseanne loved most to spend time with her husband and family. She supported her children and grandchildren in all their activities and recorded many happy events in photographs. She was a wonderful Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout leader. Roseanne was a talented artist. She especially enjoyed creating oil paintings of flowers, landscapes and scenes from the many places to which she and Nat traveled over the years. She also enjoyed making ceramic art pieces; the many beautiful ceramic nativity sets she made over the years are cherished by her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Roseanne was an active communicant of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish in Middlesex for over fifty years. She was a thoughtful and committed friend to the people in her community. She served on the Beautification Committee for the town. Roseanne is predeceased by her brother John Rigney and sisters Dolores Keller and Janet Ciencin. Roseanne loved her large extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews and all their families. Roseanne leaves behind her loving husband of sixty-three years Nathan, her devoted children; David and his wife Susan of Ellington, CT, Thomas and his wife Nancy of Middlesex, Cathleen Hilton and her husband Glenn of Gibsonia, PA, Patricia Johnson of Middlesex, and Sharon Schueler and her husband Robert also of Middlesex. She will be missed by her ten adored grandchildren; Christine Dunlop and her husband Shaun, Amy Heavisides and her husband Andrew, Robin and Ken Johnson, Peter, Rachel and Maureen Hilton and Rebecca, Kim and Matt Schueler. Visitation will take place in Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm and on Monday, December 19, 2016 from 8:15 am until 8:45 am. On Monday, December 19, 2016, funeral services will begin in the funeral home at 8:45 am followed by a 9:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish. Prayers and entombment will follow in the Twelve Apostles Mausoleum located within Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway. In lieu of flowers, donations sent to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
