Piscataway - Michael C. Tomaszewicz, 64, died suddenly Monday, June 27, 2016 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Bayonne to the late Stanley and Helen (Shelepak), Michael grew up in Rahway and graduated from Rahway High School. He went on to study in Kean University and Rutgers University where he received his Bachelor's degree. Michael settled to Piscataway in 1976. Prior to retirement, Michael worked for the Child Protective Services for the State of New Jersey in Trenton. He was a program development specialist in charge of instituting state wide automated child welfare systems. He continued helping others by volunteering with the Coast Guard Auxiliary from 1992 - 2001 where he served as Past Flotilla Commander. Along with his family and 20 faire children, Michael enjoyed attending and preforming in Renaissance Faires throughout the tri state area. Most recently, he attended the Steampunk Fair in Piscataway. He also enjoyed fishing and model railroading. Surviving are his devoted wife and daughter, Melody and Michelle Tomaszewicz; sister, Andrea Guarricino and two brothers, David and Peter Tomaszewicz Funeral services will begin on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 11AM in the Piscataway Funeral Home 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway NJ 08854. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4PM & 7-9PM in the funeral home. Cremation will follow privately and donations have been requested to Open Door, 24 Kirkpatrick Street, New Brunswick, NJ and any Nature or Wetland Conservancy Organization of one's choosing.
