Middlesex - Alice Jane Malt, 82, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 27, 2016. She was born in the Homestake Hospital, Lead, South Dakota to the late Alexander McMillan and Mary Sylvina Calhoon. Alice was the last baby born there. She graduated from Lead High School, class of 1951 and married Joseph Richard Malt of Hazelton, PA on September 22, 1952; they settled in Middlesex, NJ in 1960. Alice was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, and served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister as well as a member of the Altar Rosary Society and Martha's Table. She took great comfort in her faith and was devoted to the word of God. The greatest joys of her life were her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She instilled in them a great sense of family traditions and loved nothing more than then entire family gathering for Christmas Eve. She made great memories with her granddaughters cooking the traditional Easter pie - everyone with an apron and babushka! She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Mary Buck Greiner (2014), infant daughter, Grace (1957), parents, "Mac" and "Vina" Calhoon and siblings: William McConnell (infant), Wallace Mac Calhoon (Infant), Malcolm Dean Calhoon, Charles Calhoon, Mildred Joann Ozanne, Winifred Rachetts, Vida Krause, Mary Sigman and Norma Harris. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 64 years, Joseph and their children: Jane Ream (Brian), Richard Malt (Sherie), Barbara Benwell (Brian), Nancy Milewska (Bob) and Kathleen Boczon. She took great pride in her 15 grandchildren: Kenneth Buck (Nancy), Heather Mannion (Patrick), Joe Reilly (Shannon), Jamie Blume (Patrick), Richard Malt, Jr. (Tracey), Benjamin Benwell (Amanda), Susie Pypniowski (Justin), Emily Milewska, Jeremy Serpe (Melissa), Brian Ream, Jeffrey Malt, Bobby Milewska, Alyssa Ream, Charles Boczon and Joey Milewska. Alice adored her great grandchildren: Daniel, Kaitlyn, William, Elliott, Andrew, Mason, Ava, Cadence, Noah, and Madison. She is also survived by her 100 year old sister, Verle Bauernfiend, Lead, SD. Family and friends are invited to join together for visitation on Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 3-7PM. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 9:00 AM at the Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Middlesex, NJ. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Burial Park Mausoleum, Piscataway. Alice had requested that in lieu of flowers please make donations in her memory to OLMV Church, 600 Harris Avenue, Middlesex, NJ 08846.
