Doris M. Godun (nee Smulligan), 76, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 in the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville, NJ. Born and raised in Mahanoy City, PA, Doris relocated to Brooklyn, NY before settling in Piscataway, NJ in the 1960s. She was employed by Telcordia Technologies in Piscataway for many years prior to retiring in 2002 and was also a dedicated and faithful member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Dunellen, NJ. Predeceased by both her husband William and son William Michael, surviving are her daughters, Stephanie McHugh (Patrick) of Hingham, MA, Susan Godun of Paris, France, and Sally Poveromo (Edward) of Boston, MA; son, Steven Godun (Erica) of North Brunswick, NJ; and grandchildren, Patrick, Shannon and Sean McHugh, and Jessica Godun. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 4-8pm in the Piscataway Funeral Home (18 Stelton Road, Piscataway) with a Parastas Service beginning at 6pm. Funeral services will begin on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 9:15am in the funeral home followed by a 10am funeral mass at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church (121 Madison Avenue, Dunellen). Interment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park (Hoes Lane & Park Avenue, Piscataway). Donations in Doris' name can be made to the Steeplechase Cancer Center https://www.rwjuh.edu/shcf/donate-now.aspx or to a cancer charity of choice.
