South Plainfield - Margaret (Dann) Boppert, 84, died peacefully early Sunday, September 6, 2015 at the Chelsea Assisted Living Residence in Fanwood, NJ. Margaret was born on January 31,1931 in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of James T. and Margaret M. Dann. Margaret's main focus was her family, as the proud mother of six children. In 1952, she married the love of her life, Walter J. Boppert Jr., and they began their family in Staten Island, NY later moving to Old Bridge and then Marlboro, NJ. Following her husband's death in 1984 she lived with her daughter Margaret and her husband Douglas and their children in South Plainfield until 2013. Before starting her family Margaret worked at J Walter Thompson and M. W. Kellog in Manhattan, NY. A devout Roman Catholic, she taught CCD at St. Ambrose parish in Old Bridge for several years. She carried on valiantly in the face of health issues including MS and breast cancer. A lover of reading and crossword puzzles she reluctantly became an avid Yankees fan after the Dodgers left Brooklyn. Predeceased by siblings Kenneth, Francis and Evelyn, Margaret is survived by her sister Mary Jane and husband Benjamin Fragano and her six children: daughters, Trish Boppert of Philadelphia, Margaret Fulton and husband Douglas of South Plainfield, Mary Beth Boppert and husband Brian Boehm of Maplewood; sons, Walter J.III and wife Linda of Albany, NY, Christopher and wife Victoria of Canajohorie, NY and John and wife Elizabeth of Jersey City. She will also be missed by her nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 9:15AM in the South Plainfield Funeral Home 2456 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield NJ 07080 followed by a 10AM Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, East Brunswick. Family and friends may attend visitation on Wednesday September 9, 2015 from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Charities.
