Obituary of John J. Goodman

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John "Jack" Goodman died July 21, 2016 at Virtua Long Term Care, Berlin, NJ at the age of 89. A service will be held on July 23, 2016 from 10a-12p at the Piscataway Funeral Home, Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ. The service will be followed immediately by the burial at Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway. Jack was born on April 22, 1927 in Jersey City, NJ. He served in the US Navy as a radioman toward the end of WWII. Upon discharge from the Navy, he graduated from Seton Hall University and attended Fordham Law School. His career, was in the overseas operations department at General Motors (aka by Jack as "Generous Motors") in NYC and Detroit. He retired from GM shortly after the death of his wife, Anita Kathleen "Kay" (resting in peace since 1979) and became a paralegal before eventually retiring full-time in 1987. He was a lifelong fisherman and frequent customer on the "Gambler" out of Point Pleasant Beach. He also loved (to hate) crossword puzzles and was always happy when we Googled clues to help him finish a puzzle. Jack is survived by a wonderful, large family comprised of his children, Mark (Muffy), Paul (Sara), Kathleen (Marty Lawler), Anita Dubas (Bob), Mary DeSordi (Michael), 14 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and his longtime friend, Barbara Shinn. We will all miss his dry sense of humor and feistiness. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Jack's friend, Jim Sheerin (USMC retired/dec.) and Jack's grandson, Lance Corporal, Jayson DeSordi (active duty USMC) donations may be made to the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, (909 N. Washington St, Suite 400, Alexandria, VA, 22314 (www.mcsf.org)
