Piscataway, NJ - Alfred O. Niedermayer, 95, of Piscataway passed away on December 25, 2016 after a brief illness. He was born in Munich, Germany in 1921, immigrating to the United States in 1927 with his parents, the late Otto and Margareta (Enk) Niedermayer. Alfred became a US Citizen in 1935 while residing in Fair Haven, NJ. In 1955, he moved to his Piscataway home with his late wife of fifty-six years, Gertrude. During World War II, Alfred served with the US Navy in Guam as a member of the US Naval Medical Research Team, NAMRU-2, in association with the Rockefeller Institute of NYC. After honorable discharge from the Navy, he attended Rutgers University, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, after which he continued with graduate work in chemistry at the university. Alfred was employed for thirty-nine years as a Senior Research Chemist at E.R. Squibb & Sons (presently Bristol-Meyers Squibb) in New Brunswick, retiring in 1989. He is survived by his loving children; Nancy Nelson and husband Donald of Piscataway, Carol Ellis of Hackettstown and Karl Niedermayer of Piscataway as well as five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. At the request of the family, all funeral services for Alfred were held privately.
