Middlesex, NJ - John J. Flesher, 89, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2016 at his residence. Born in Olyphant, PA to his late parents Joseph and Mary (Gancarski) Flesher, he moved to Middlesex in 1950 to raise his family. After graduating from Olyphant High School in 1944, John joined the United States Navy on June 21, 1944 and served aboard the USS Burleigh as a Gunners Mate 3 until his honorable discharge on May 30, 1946. For over thirty-eight years, John was employed by Union Carbide in Bound Brook as a Lab Technician. Active within the town of Middlesex, John devoted his time to the Juvenile Conference Committee, the Drug and Alcohol Alliance Committee for over forty years and could always be found assisting with the Boy Scouts and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish. John leaves behind his loving and devoted family; wife of sixty-six years; Cecelia Flesher, three children; Carol Stepien and her husband Robert, Mark and his wife Donna, Carl and his wife Patricia, six grandchildren; Laura, Lisa, Emily, Jared, Michael, and Jacob and four great-grandchildren; Ignatius, Ellana, Lucien and Jordan. Visitation will take place in Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 9:00 am until 9:45 am. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 beginning 10:30 am at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish, 600 Harris Avenue, Middlesex. Burial will follow at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations sent to OLMV Major Renovation's Fund would be appreciated.
