Middlesex, NJ - Chester H. MacDonald, 84, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 surrounded by his family at Care One at Somerset Valley in Bound Brook. Born and raised in South Plainfield to his late parents Chester and Verna (Lear) MacDonald, he lived in Plainfield before setting to Middlesex forty-eight years ago. Chester was honorably discharged from the United States Navy after serving during the Korean War. Retiring in the late 1980's, he was employed by the Fanwood Postal Service as a letter carrier. A life member of American Legion Post #306 and a member of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish in Middlesex, he also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Chester leaves behind his devoted wife of sixty-three years; Grace (Izzo) MacDonald and their three loving children; Bruce MacDonald and his wife Shirley of Flemington, PA, Debra Bellina and her husband Pete and Anne Decker and her husband Raymond all of Piscataway. He will be missed dearly by six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Visitation will take place in Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854 on Monday, May 23, 2016 from 4-8 pm and on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 8:15 am until 8:45 am. Funeral services will begin 8:45 am in the funeral home on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 followed by a 9:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish, 600 Harris Avenue, Middlesex. Burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery located in Scotch Plains.
