Obituary of Grace B. Farinella

Grace B. Farinella, 92, passed away in the early morning of Thursday, August 9, 2018, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Born to the late Nicholas and Katherine Barna of Saddle Brook, New Jersey, Mrs. Farinella settled in South Plainfield, New Jersey in 1973, with her husband John and her sons, John and Michael. Mrs. Farinella received her master of arts degree from Columbia University and her undergraduate degree from William Paterson College. Mrs. Farinella was an elementary school teacher and was a popular substitute teacher with the South Plainfield Public Schools. Active with the Suburban Woman's Club in South Plainfield, Mrs. Farinella was instrumental in planning many events including their yearly garage sale at the American Legion and the annual fashion show. Mrs. Farinella, predeceased by her husband, John T. Farinella, of 46 years, is survived by her son, John T. Farinella, Jr., and his wife Dawn, and her son, Michael Farinella, all of South Plainfield. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Nicholas, Lynda, and Julianna. Family and friends may gather in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Friday, August 10, 2018, from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will begin on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, followed by a funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, 809 Hamilton Boulevard, South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Burial will follow in St. Gertrude's Cemetery, 53 Inman Avenue, Colonia, NJ 07067.
