Obituary of James W. Hamilton

James W. Hamilton, Sr., 84, passed away in his sleep at the Pines at Whiting on Sunday, October 21, 2018. Born in New Brunswick to the late Abram and Evelyn Hamilton, Jim was raised in the Oak Tree Section of Edison. He later lived in Piscataway for many years before moving to Whiting about eight years ago.
After serving in the United States Navy during the Korean War, Jim worked for Cedar Hill Landscaping in Franklin and the National Can Corporation in Piscataway, from which he retired.
He enjoyed sailing, playing golf and fishing, and loved spending time doing various crafts. Jim was a longtime member of the New Durham Chapel in Piscataway and an active volunteer at America's Keswick in Whiting.
Jim is survived by his wife of more than fifty years; Dorothy (Acton) Hamilton, children; Judith Dambach of Brick and her husband Fred, John "Jack" Huber of New Orleans, LA, Dorothy Lynn Wilhelm of Monroe and her husband Bill, Gail Andrew of Port St. Lucie, FL and her husband Tom, James Hamilton, Jr. of Carrolton, VA, and by ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
On Monday, October 29, 2018, family and friends are invited to meet directly at the New Durham Chapel, 225 New Durham Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854 for a 10:00 am funeral service. Burial will follow at Clover Leaf Memorial Park in Woodbridge.
In lieu of flowers, donations sent to New Durham Chapel would be appreciated.
