Obituary of Frank J. Wrublevski
Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Frank Wrublevski, turned 100 years old on November 18. He passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Gary, West Virginia, the Wrublevski family settled in South Plainfield during 1928.
A proud Veteran of WWII, Frank served in the United States Army Air Force. He was a B-29 Gunner with the 39th Bomb Group in the 61st Squadron. In 1945, at the rank of Staff Sergeant, Frank earned his honorable discharge. He was Life Member of the South Plainfield VFW Post 6763 as well as member of the 39th Bomb Group Association.
Mr. Wrublevski was a longtime communicant of Saint Demetrius Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Carteret where he served also as a board member for numerous years. Prior to joining St. Demetrius Church, Frank's mother, Xenia Wrublevski, started a small Orthodox Chapel during WWII where she prayed daily for her four military sons to return home safely from the war. Many years later after the passing of Xenia the Chapel that she created was bestowed to St. Stephen the Protomartyr Antiochian Orthodox Church in South Plainfield. Frank was extremely proud of this due to the fact that the church has flourished and grown. He felt it was well suited to the ministry of our Lord.
An avid family man, Frank took particular enjoyment spending time with family. He loved being surrounded by all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren whenever possible. He especially loved the relationships he had with his many nieces and nephews who loved and respected him in return. Frank loved to travel, golf, and devote time to his church.
Predeceased by two sisters and four brothers, Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 75 years, Mary (Wolansky); daughters, Mary Bannon and her husband John, Nancy Grabie and her husband Alan and son Frank and his wife Mickey all of South Plainfield; grandchildren, Shawn Bannon (Vanessa), Tara Doyle (Jason), Stephanie Rizk (Tom), Nichole Wrublevski and Frank Wrublevski III (Laura) and great grandchildren, Ryan, Mason, Sophia, Cora and Declan.
