Obituary of Dorothy T. Griffin

Dorothy (Dottie) Thauwald Griffin of Bridgewater, N.J., and formerly of Summit, N.J., passed away peacefully on October 29, 2014.She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on November 9, 1917, and attended the University of Cincinnati. She married The Honorable Bryant Wade Griffin, Jr. on September 2, 1939, and settled in New Jersey.As an amateur actress, Dottie enjoyed the lead in many plays in the Summit Playhouse in the 1950's. She was also involved in the Overlook Follies, and an active member of the Women's Guild of Calvary Episcopal Church, the Junior League of Summit, N.J., and a member of the Delaware River Mill Society. She loved to travel with her husband, Bryant, and enjoyed her summers on Shelter Island, New York.Dottie was predeceased by her husband and her daughter, Nancy Schaul.She is survived by her son Bryant Wade Griffin III (Michele); her daughter Jody Griffin Peterson (Gary); her son in law, The Honorable Robert F. Schaul, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.A memorial reception was held on Sunday, November 9th, which would have been her 97th birthday, beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the auditorium at Arbor Glen Senior Living, 100 Monroe Street, Bridgewater, N.J.
