Obituary of Salwa Antoun Bawarshi
Berkeley Heights, NJ – Salwa Antoun (Salfiti) Bawarshi, 89, passed away at Runnels Specialized Hospital in Berkeley Heights on Friday, April 26, 2019. Born and raised in Jerusalem to the late Antoun and Eleanor Salfiti, Salwa resided in Beirut, Lebanon until 2002, when she settled in Stirling.
Salwa enjoyed her time taking care of her family as a homemaker and always kept her home spotless. She enjoyed all types of music and her TV shows. Salwa also loved to cook and knit sweaters for her family. She was devoted to her faith and attended church at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Dunellen.
Predeceased by her husband, Habib I. Bawarshi, and sister, Elen Sabat, of Jerusalem, she leaves behind her loving family: sons Abe (Ruth) of Springfield and Hani (Mary Beth) of Stirling and daughter Mona Nazzal Barnhouse (Robert) of Dallas, TX; grandchildren Anthony Bawarshi of Stirling and Rania Nasser (Anthony), Hala Masaad (Christopher), and Dalia Begin (Michael) of Dallas, TX; and great-grandchildren Nicholas and Daniel Nasser and Sophia and Laila Begin. She will be missed dearly by her siblings: Ibrahim Salfiti of Jerusalem, Mary Howard and Nadia Nicholas of Sheffield, England, Sophie Scott (Marc) of Belfast, Ireland, and Hana Sabat of Jordan.
