Obituary of Sara Mae Berg
South Plainfield – Sara Mae (Spencer) Berg, 88, passed away early Saturday morning, November 23, 2019 at the Center for Hope Hospice located in Scotch Plains. Born in Philipsburg, PA to the late Daniel and Lydia (Rice) Spencer, Sara moved to Rahway in 1963 and in 2009, she settled to be with her daughter in South Plainfield.
She retired from Rahway Hospital where she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She enjoyed bingo and cross stitching, was an avid reader and with the Rahway Seniors, she enjoyed traveling.
Predeceased by her husband George and sons Ralph and George, Sara is survived by her three children; Charles Berg (Joan) of Winfield Park, Julie Schmidt (Ron) of South Plainfield and Daniel of Bangor, PA. Sara also leaves behind her sister Helen Gary of PA, four grandchildren; Michael, Lisa, Charlie and Jessica as well as four great-grandchildren; Anthony, Mason, Caden and Ashton.
Visitation will be held in McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 beginning 9:30 am.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 10:00 followed by burial at Rosedale Cemetery in Linden.
