From Charlotte Reid, Activities Assistant at Merry Heart Assisted Living
Our sincere condolences to the family of our dear brother in Christ, Bob Bird. We the Staff, the Bible Study Group and the Residents will miss him dearly.
Bob is free at last to be with his loved ones in Heaven. His body may return to the dust, but his spirit is home.
With much affection,
Charlotte Reid

When I was brand new on the railroad, Bob and another former CNJ conductor, named Louis Vargas and gave me the talking to that I needed. Bob told me that I would have a job for life as long as I showed up when I was supposed to and did my job. At twenty-three years old, it was hard to fathom the idea of having a job "..for life.." In fact it was a bit un-nerving. But, I followed Bob's advice and I am now looking forward to retiring in four years. Thanks Bob!
I will always remember your smile and jokes. Thank you sir for so willingly and freely sharing your advice with me. Rest in peace my Brother Veteran!
