Catherine M. McGarry 95, of Plainfield, NJ passed away peacefully under the loving care of the staff at the Avalon Assisted Living in Hillsborough on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020. Catherine McGarry was born and raised in Erving, Massachusetts and has resided in Plainfield for the past 75 years. Daughter of the late Adam and Ursula Kersavage, she was also predeceased by her beloved husband Eugene McGarry. Catherine is survived by her sister Ursula; son Gregory McGarry and his wife Pia; grandson Demian and his wife Edyta; granddaughter Lauren and her husband Krishna; and three great grandchildren. After graduation from the Wilson School of Medical Technology in 1944, Catherine moved to Plainfield and was employed at Muhlenberg Hospital. In 1993, after 23 years in Research and Development, Catherine retired from Merck and Co. Inc. Whether at work or at home, Catherine was always ready with a warm smile and a kind heart which always brightened the day for her co-workers and especially her family. During her retirement, Catherine enjoyed travel, taking college courses offered to seniors, reading, a variety of volunteer work, and most of all spending time with her family. Catherine was a faithful communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Plainfield, and volunteered regularly for many years in the accounting office of the parish. Due to the current health crisis the funeral arrangements were held privately and Catherine was buried at the family plot of Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
