Middlesex – Dionysios Hionis, 86, of Middlesex, NJ passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2020. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Dionysios was born on June 26, 1933 in Kefalonia, Greece to Violetta and Efthemios Hionis. He served in the Greek Army and then worked as a mechanical engineer on a merchant ship. When he arrived in the United States in 1966, Dionysios worked as an auto body mechanic. He married Eftyhia in 1968 and together they raised three children. One of Dionysios’ great pleasures was cultivating his garden. He also enjoyed rebuilding cars, tinkering with various projects and spending time with his family. Dionysios is survived by his wife, Eftyhia; daughter, Gerry Hionis of Ewing; son, Mike Hionis of Middlesex, and son Tim Hionis and daughter-in- law, Tracy and grandchildren, Jacob, Rebecca and Christopher all of Irmo, SC. Dionysios is also survived by his brother, Spiros Hionis and sister-in-law, Angeliki; and three sisters, Constantina Vallianos, Roxanne Sourvanos, and Marianthi Pierratos. He is predeceased by two brothers, Pavlos Hionis and Panagis Chionis. Dionysios is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Extraordinary circumstances may keep him from being celebrated the way he deserves, but he will not be forgotten. He was a good man whose only priority was his family. Hard working, quiet and kind, he was loved by all who knew him. He always had a smile and a kind word for all. He will be greatly missed.
