Obituary of William E. Frink Jr.

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

William E. Frink Jr., 77, passed away on Sunday May 3rd, 2020 as a result of COVID-19 complications.

Bill was a lifelong resident of South Plainfield and he sure did love his hometown.  He left briefly for 4 years to serve his Country during Vietnam with pride when he enlisted in the Air Force. He was a member of the South Plainfield Elks Lodge 2298.

Upon his return, he chose to serve his hometown as a Police Officer for 30 years.  As a Cop, Bill touched the lives of so many people, young and old.  He always had a story to tell, an ear to listen, a hand to help and a shoulder to lean on.  His words of wisdom were plentiful and always welcomed.

After retiring in 2000, Bill just couldn't sit home and took on a job as a Security Guard for Hall's Warehouse in South Plainfield.  It got him out of the house for a couple days a week where he was able to continue to help people, tell his stories and gain new ones that would be shared.  He loved that "little job" as he called it, sitting in a guard shack and welcoming truckers who had come from near and far.

When he wasn't working, he enjoyed being out in his yard, making his home one that everyone would talk about it. Halloween was his favorite and that front yard would be decorated with grave markers and a coffin. Bill loved having a garden, looked forward to starting it every year and man could he grow some "Maters".   His love for animals was second to none; he always had dogs and cats and would support the local shelter by picking up donations from other people and take them over to the Humane Society.  Traveling with his wife was another passion and he was definitely a beach bum, loved sitting on a beach soaking up the sun.  And let us tell you, this man loved to shop, he would go up to the Warrenville Flea Market every single weekend and always came home with something for the yard, the garden or a toy for his pets.  You couldn't keep him away from Shoprite and those cheese samples, he was there every day. His love of food was deep, he enjoyed cooking and when he wasn't really able to anymore, he liked to support local restaurants.  Two of his favorites were Buzzy's and Angelina's. Both places made him feel like family and he could be found there at least once a week if not more.

Predeceased his loving wife, Melissa Frink; his parents, William E. Frink Sr. and Ida; his sister, Barbara Reinhard; Bill is survived by his son, Troy Frink of Dallas, Oregon; his daughter, Carey Frink of Branchburg; his sister, Cheryl Wiedwald and her husband David of Sarasota; Florida; his mother in law Judith Bori of Manahawkin and his brother in law John Bori and his wife Gail of South Plainfield.

He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews, Brent Reinhard, Jessica DiLorenzo, Brittlyn Wiedwald, Billy Bori and Danny Bori.
