Obituary of William C. Hayes
South Plainfield, NJ – William C. Hayes, known to many as Bill, passed away on August 30, 2020 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born in New York sixty years ago, Bill grew up in North Plainfield and was a 1979 graduate and shortly thereafter, Bill settled to South Plainfield.
An avid car lover, Bill enjoyed working as a mechanic, most recently at Edgewood Properties in South Plainfield. Bill had an extensive collection of Snap-On Tools and was given the nickname of “Super Mechanic” as he could fix almost everything.
He would tell everyone he was a Dallas Cowboys Fan from birth. His love for Budweiser was often shown while hanging out with his friends at the American Legion in South Plainfield. Although he had many hobbies and interest, Bill’s favorite time was when he was with his daughters and grandchildren.
Predeceased by his parents Gerard and Irene Hayes, Bill leaves behind his loving daughters; Amy Lynn and her boyfriend Michael and Bernadette, his brothers and sisters-in-law; Paul and Tammy, Christopher and Rose, Patrick and Linda, Gerard “Chip” and Timothy “TJ” and Rona. Bill will be missed dearly by his three adored grandchildren; Ryan, Tyler and Ava and his longtime best friend, Teri DiCecco.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 beginning 9:45 am followed by a 10:15 am funeral mass at Sacred Heart Church in South Plainfield. At the request of the Hayes family, Bill will privately be buried in the family plot of Franklin Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 from 4-8pm and on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 9:15 am.
