Obituary of Luigi Vocisano
Luigi Vocisano, 81, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born and raised in Oppido, Mamertina, Italy, Luigi, immigrated to the United States in 1958 and was a resident of Piscataway for the past 58 years before recently relocating to Somerset.
Luigi began his livelihood as a skilled mason. He immediately excelled at the trade and soon after, along with his wife Josephine, established their business of custom home building.
He was a long time member of the Italian American Club in Piscataway and Westfield and enjoyed participating in several of the clubs social activities and events.
Mr.Vocisano was a NY Jets, Yankees and Rutgers Scarlet Knights fan. He was an avid hunter and he also enjoyed gardening. His most cherished times were spending time with his family and friends but nothing brought more joy to his life than his grandchildren. Luigi impacted so many people’s lives with his loving and embracing spirit. His legacy will continue to be lived forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
In addition to his wife Josephine “Jo”, surviving are his daughters, Vivian LaGuarina and her husband Frank of Somerset and Lisa Magliaro and her husband Michael of Whitehouse Station; sisters, Caterina Altomonte of Piscataway, NJ, Rose Gangemi of Randolph, NJ and Francesca Gangemi of Italy; brothers, Fortunato of Australia, Antonio of Italy, Domenico of Piscataway, NJ and Giuseppe of Australia; and grandchildren, Frankie, Jenna, Julia, Lexi and Alyssa. Also surviving are many beloved nieces and nephews as well as his beloved Bella.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 from 4-8pm in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 beginning at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a 10:30am mass at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Piscataway.
Entombment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway.
The Vocisano family has requested, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org
