Obituary of Dennis Michael Gilbert

Dennis Michael Gilbert, 72 of Piscataway passed away peacefully at home with his loving family. 

Born to the late Jack and Mildred Gilbert, he was raised in South Plainfield and has been a resident of Piscataway for the past 43 years. 

Dennis was a proud Veteran, having served in the Navy on the USS Forresta. He was a truck driver for 40+ years who enjoyed retirement immensely, especially fishing, driving his cherished Nova and spending time with family in Long Beach Island. 

Dennis is survived by his loving wife of nearly 48 years, Gloria (Beleno) Gilbert of Piscataway, daughter Tracey Mellor and husband Paul of Easton, PA, daughter Rebecca Culbertson and husband Daniel of Bangor, PA, son Dennis Gilbert of Piscataway, NJ and predeceased by his daughter Sarah Gilbert of South Plainfield, NJ.  He is also survived by his brother Peter and wife Diane of Howell, NJ, as well as many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. Dennis was a loving Pop Pop to Jack, Max, Christopher, Julie, Matthew, Alexa and Nathan. He also had many cherished lifelong friends, especially his best friends Phil, Bob, David and Jim.  He will be missed by his granddogs Dino and Shelby; grandcats, Elliott James and Garfield Funk and his grandhamster Ollie. 

Dennis is predeceased by his twin brother Michael and his grandson Jack. 

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
