Obituary of Giuseppe Parlati
South Plainfield – Giuseppe “Joe” Parlati, 74, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at RWJUH in Rahway.
Born in Naples, Italy; Giuseppe served in the Italian Navy before immigrating to the United States in 1971. He settled to South Plainfield where he married Dina Notino the following year, they were married for 49 years and raised three daughters.
Joe initially worked for FIAT in Torino, Italy then in the United States for Local 472 Heavy Laborers until his retirement in 2010. A soccer fanatic, especially for his Napoli team, “Forza Napoli Sempre”, Joe also enjoyed gardening, fishing and the ocean.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and pop pops and a man who loved to spend time with his family for huge dinners.
Surviving are his wife, Irene “Dina” Parlati; three daughters, Luisa O’Brien and husband Will of Bartlett, IL, Suzanne Austin and husband PJ in Edison and Elena Farfan and husband Sergio of South Plainfield and siblings, Lucia, Anna, Silvana, Palmiero, Mario all of Naples, Italy and deceased brothers Giovanni, Tonino.
He will also be missed by his seven grandchildren, Emma, Julianna, Ava Austin, William and Joseph O’Brien and Sophie and Noah Farfan along with nieces and nephews both in Italy and the United States.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 9:30AM in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield at 10:30AM. Burial will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.
Family and friends may gather in the funeral home on Sunday from 3-6PM.
