Obituary of Rosa Transita Chavez
South Bound Brook – Rosa Transita Chavez, 78, passed away at University Hospital in Newark after a month long fight with Covid-19 complications. Born in Ayabaca Piura, Peru to the late Eudoro and Isaura (Morocho) Jaramillo, Rosa moved to Lima until the age of thirty-three. She then moved to Italy for a short time, before settling back to Lima, and eventually immigrating to New Jersey to be with her family thirty-six years ago.
While living in Peru, Rosa worked for the children’s hospital as a laboratory technician. Rosa devoted herself to her faith in God. Throughout her life, she has participated in many activities within the church; some to include; singing in the choir at St. Mary’s for thirty-two years, taught choir lessons and assisted with numerous donations to build a church in Peru and provide for those less fortunate. Rosa organized Christmas activities for the most vulnerable children in Peru and loved spending time at church praying and singing.
Rosa was a true family woman, always putting others first. Without a complaint, she raised two wonderful daughters, was always present with her grandchildren and had a bond with her husband Juan like no other. She loved to cook, always was willing to donate food to others and whoever ate her food always came back for seconds! Rosa could always be found with her family – taking day trips at any chance she could.
Rosa leaves behind her loving husband of 48 years, Juan, daughter Diana A. Gonzalez, her husband JuanCarlos and their children; Sarai, Josephine and Lucia, daughter Betzabe Monge, her husband Cesar and their children; Joshua, Jasmine, Juliett and Joy as well as two brothers (Hebert and Jose) and a sister (Doria) in Peru, a brother (Raul) in Italy and several extended family members, including nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be held 5-9pm on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846. On Wednesday, September 8, 2021, family and friends are invited to attend a 12:00pm Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church in Dunellen. Those who cannot attend Friday’s visitation may arrive to church between 11:30am and 11:50am for additional gathering time.
Burial will follow at Bound Brook Cemetery in Bound Brook. In lieu of flowers, donations sent in Rosa’s name to St. John the Evangelist Church in Dunellen, NJ would be appreciated.
