Obituary of Frank P Spalluto

Frank Spalluto, 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, October 5th, 2021.  Born in Plainfield and raised in Castellana Grotte, Province of Bari, Italy, Frank emigrated to the United States when he was nineteen. Frank’s Italian heritage, strong work ethic, and devotion to family and friends had a significant impact on everyone he encountered.  Coming from a modest upbringing, through his passion for success and partnering with his childhood friend, Paul Baldasarre, they established Garden State Engine and Equipment Co., Inc.

Garden State became the largest truck mounted crane business on the east coast. Frank obtained a patent from the US patent office for a remote control device to protect crane operators from electrocution while working near power lines. This new revolutionary device has saved countless lives.

Frank is a charter member of the Piscataway Elks Lodge #2414 for the past fifty-five years. Frank and Angelina have traveled to many destinations of northern and southern hemispheres and much of Europe, which have all brought them great joy.

He was the dear and devoted husband of Angelina Bottone Spalluto, and had just celebrated their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary on September 30th. They were married at St Bernard of Clairvaux Parish of Plainfield.  They have been recently recognized as being the longest married couple ever married within the Parish.  Frank was the loving father of his sons Frank and Michael Spalluto, and their spouses, Catherine and Nancy. He is also the proud grandfather of Frank, Christian, Nicholas, Matthew, and Lauren and brother to Elda Spalluto-Nitti, and the late Benito Spalluto, Victor Spalluto, and Sister Elizabeth Ciampa.

Visitation will take place at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Friday, October 8, 2021 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm and on Saturday, October 9, 2021 beginning 9:45am.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 10:15am followed by an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at The Church of St. Bernard of Clairvaux and St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church in Plainfield, the same church Frank and Angelina were married in sixty-five years ago.  Frank will be entombed in the Chapel of Risen Christ Mausoleum within Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.
