Obituary of Joseph Besecker
Joseph Besecker, 87, passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at home in Piscataway surrounded by his family.
Born in Linden, son of the late Eli and Florence (Novak) Besecker, Joe graduated from Woodbridge High School and raised his family in Piscataway, NJ with the love of his life, Helen (Zakolski) Besecker.
Joseph was proud to have served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received his honorable discharge from active duty service in 1956.
He worked for the former Air Products Inc. in Iselin as well as the Piscataway Board of Education prior to his retirement.
During his free time he enjoyed tinkering with antiques and tools, and attending garage sales. He held a stand at Englishtown Auction flea market for over 50 years
where he loved to meet new people, spend time with his fellow market friends and of course, make great deals!
Joseph’s other passions included gardening and collecting old albums to listen to his favorite oldies like Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Johnny Cash and Nat King Cole on his old victrola.
Above all, Joe loved spending time with his family especially when they were all together at a birthday party of holiday celebration.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife Helen, his four adoring children: Patricia Burke and husband Patrick, Barbara Rosamilia and Bruce Stafford, Joanne McClelland and husband Paul, Robert Besecker and wife Linda and their families.
In addition to being blessed with nine grandchildren, who all referred to him as “Pop-Pop”, Joseph was so proud to be a great-grandfather to little Lucas.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 31, 2021 from 2pm to 5pm including a 4:30pm funeral service along with the rendering military honors in the Piscataway Funeral Home 18 Stelton Rd. Piscataway, NJ 08854.
Disposition will follow at a later date with a private ceremony at the New Dover United Methodist Church Cemetery in Edison.
