What words are there to say? . . . losing those that God permitted to cross our own path, on our own journey 'upward,' is always one of sorrow.
John was a brother-in-law to my oldest brother, Bob, who married John's sister, Patricia. John was an altar boy with my youngest brother at Bob and Patricia's wedding. He sang in the choir of his childhood parish of St. Genevieve in Elizabeth, and it was in that activity GOD brought him to come to know the light that would give his life its meaning: the care of his soulmate Renae and four sons: John Jr., Brian, Matthew, and Joshua. While still in high school, John was eager to join with his older brothers in working the family print business his dad began -- peddling bike to the small shop in Irvington from his home in Elizabeth. Later in life, John took care of his elder dad, sharing his home with him while John's mom needed special care in a nearby assisted living facility,
So, John FAITHFULLY served God and the family of God through his early home parish activities, John was faithful to the love God gave to him via his earthly mom and dad, John was a faithful servant to the family business. In all of this, we can certainly weep and mourn for OUR LOSS of such faithful soul to God (first) and 'neighbor' (his parents, siblings, soulmate Renae, and sons)
. . . . but let us lean on THIS TRUTH: LIFE IS ETERNAL for those who 'give of themselves for the Love and Glory of God.'
May Renae, John Jr., Brian, Matthew, and Joshua 'feel that continued eternal presence' of John. Never speak of loved one's as 'past,' because faith understands LIFE IN GOD IS ETERNAL. John will send 'word' he made it . . . maybe through a rainbow
(of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black? LOL, the colors only a printer understands) Seriously, stay aware for 'sign' John is still
very much part of you Renae, and you also John Jr., Brian, Matthew, and Joshua. Especially thru that Eucharistic Holy Common Union, of Holy Mass. KEEP THE FAITH.
With Sincere love, Betsy A.

I was so very sorry to hear of John's passing this morning. John was such a nice man, always had a smile on his face. I knew him through work, chatting while on press and through emails. Sometimes I'd see him driving the Stuyvesant van while we were both stuck in 78 West traffic on our commute home. He always talked so highly of his sons, you knew how proud of them he was. I know he will be deeply missed. Prayers for the entire family during this very difficult time.
