Obituary of Neil A. Michels

Middlesex – Neil A. Michels passed away at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset, Somerville on January 24, 2022 after a short illness.  He was 73.

Born in Newark, he resided in Middlesex for the past 49 years.  A graduate of Irvington High School, he was employed as an offset platemaker by various printing companies until his retirement in 2006.

He was a Navy veteran, a member of the American Legion and a communicant at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church in Middlesex.  He was a classic car enthusiast and participated in many local car shows.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Claire (Wageman) Michels; his daughter, Melissa Ruzbarsky and her husband Brian; his son, Matt and his wife Wendy; and his grandchildren, Abby and Henry, Andrew and Caitlin.  He is also survived by his brother, John and sister, Susan Hart and her husband Walter.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  He will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor and his abundant love for his children and grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 in Our Lady of Mount Virgin RC Church, 600 Harris Avenue, Middlesex NJ 08846 at 10AM.

Family and friends may gather in the funeral home on Monday, January 31, 2022 from 5-8PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Neil’s memory to Our Lady of Mount Virgin, 600 Harris Avenue Middlesex NJ 08854 or the American Stroke Association, P.O. Box 840692 Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
