Obituary of Michael R. Romano
South Plainfield, NJ – Michael R. Romano, 66, passed away at JFK Medical Center in Edison on February 15, 2022. Born in Somerville to the late Russell Michael and Mary (Blaine) Romano, he has lived in Plainfield and Watchung until moving to South Plainfield in 1982.
Michael starting his working career as a Mason at Panell’s Masonry of Plainfield. He started working at PSE&G in the Gas Department in the Summit District, and was promoted to Supervisor. He spent most of his adult career as a Supervisor and retired in 2015 in the Harrison location.
Michael belonged to the Italian American Club of North Plainfield and enjoyed woodworking out of his shop in his home. In his spare time, he liked fishing, gardening and bowling and loved to make his own wine. Michael enjoyed cooking and spending time outside barbequing and everyone knew, if there was NFL on, do not call or stop by as he would be rooting on the NY Jets from the living room!
Michael leaves behind his loving wife of forty-three years; Linda A. Romano, his brothers; Ross Romano, Sr. and his wife Loren and Anthony Romano and his wife Sally. Brother-in-Law Anthony Pelle and his wife Joanne. He will also be missed by his sisters Marie Buccellato and her husband Joseph and Marcy Bruno as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
A gathering celebrating Michael’s life will be held at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 beginning 5:00pm with a concluding prayer service at 7:45pm.
