Obituary of Vera Nolan
Elvira “Vera” Abdelfattah-Nolan passed away at home on March 3, 2022 surrounded by loved ones. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she moved to South Plainfield with her family in 1972 where she raised her family.
Vera worked at Sears Automotive before working for Motors Insurance Corporation. She was a twenty-five year member of the Ladies Auxiliary of New Market Fire Company in Piscataway where her husband was a volunteer firefighter. While her children were young, Vera always held the title of assistant coach, team mom, or class mom. She also loved to sing and was performing as recently as ten years ago. Vera will be remembered for her loving and outgoing personality and how she always helped others every chance she could.
Vera is predeceased by her loving husband James “Jimmy” Nolan, parents Enriqueta and Giovanni Ciccia, and brother Vincent Ciccia. She is survived by her daughters Devynn Nicole Nolan and Giovanna Marie Nolan, her father-in-law James T. Nolan, her cousins Dora and John Torres, Maria Vanegas, Jimmy Roldan and Sammy Roldan, and by many friends.
Visitation will be held in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and on Thursday, March 10, 2022 beginning 9:00am.
Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home at 9:30am on Thursday, March 10, 2022 followed by a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church in South Plainfield. Vera will be laid to rest beside her husband at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, also in South Plainfield.
