Please share a memory of Lilia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lilia Montoya Samera was born April 5th, 1942 in DaoCapiz, Iloilo Philippines.

A true and loving person, Lilia was known amongst her friends as “Sweet Lily.”  With a background in education, Lilia worked in Camp Aguinaldo in the Philippines where she met the love of her life, Perfecto Samera and they created a loving family together. She was a generous mother who showered her children, and then grandchildren, with loving care, guidance, and pampering. Lilia was a wonderful friend and a sweet and loving sister to all.  Popular for her cooking, Lilia would go out of her way to generously share everything she made and to make sure everyone was fed. She was a skilled seamstress, and tackled any sewing job with ease and mastery. She found great joy in gardening, harvesting fresh vegetables each year and loved having beautiful and colorful flowers blooming in her garden. During all these activities, one could always hear her singing praise songs, as worshiping The Lord was her most cherished vocation of them all.Lilia was an active member of her churches, both in the Philippines and in New Jersey. She was one of the pioneers of Lagro Christian Baptists Church, and a

devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Piscataway. Dedicated to serving The Lord, she was an active supporter in missionary works, participating in volunteer services to bring the gift of Christ to others and to spread His Love. Her gifts of kindness and sweetness would bring comfort to those in need. She always loved to pray and worship with her bible as her daily guide. Above all, she kept her faith in God to the very end. Lilia is survived by her two children; Reynaldo, married to Ruschelle Samera, and Maria Perlie, married to Mario Powell Fabella, who will miss their mother very much. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Carmen Stephanie, Rey Anthony, and Marion Pamela, and her great-grandchildren, Alab and Hiraya, who will continue to remember their Lola who loved and spoiled them dearly. Lilia will be missed by the rest of her friends and family, who will continue her legacy of love and faith.
