Obituary of William A. Weaver

South Plainfield, NJ – William “Bill” Weaver, 71, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at his residence with his loving family by his side.  Born in Culpepper, VA, to the late Charles and Stella Weaver, Bill spent his early childhood there before his family settled in South Plainfield.

An Iron Worker by trade, he worked for the Iron Workers Union Local #11 for thirty years, retiring in 2009. Outside of work, Bill was a life member of the South Plainfield Italian American Progressive League, The South Plainfield B.P.O.E. Elks 2298 and the South Plainfield Lions Club. 

Bill loved to spend time on the water fishing and he was a known classic car enthusiast.  He also enjoyed keeping busy by doing various projects around his home, however, most important to Bill was caring and providing for his large family.

Predeceased by brother in law John Thompson, Bill is survived by his wife Jacqueline (nee Bird); sister Shirley Thompson; children, Cindi Weaver, William Jr. and his wife Kristina, C.J. Weaver, Angel Weaver, and Krystal Hoffman and her husband Matt; and grandchildren William, Wes, Wade, Wyatt, Jamel, Landon and Kyleigh.

Family and friends may attend the visitation at the South Plainfield Funeral Home, 2456 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Sunday, March 19, 2023 from 2pm – 5pm and on Monday, March 20, 2023 beginning 10:30am.

Funeral services will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday, March 20, 2023 beginning at 11:00am.

Interment will be followed in Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory have been requested to assist with the long time charitable food and dinners his sister has been providing annually  to numerous seniors and those in need.  Donations are to be made to Shirley Thompson Christmas, 131 Montrose Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
