Obituary of Phyllis Ann Spence

Phyllis Ann Spence, 82, died Thursday March 23, 2023 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. 

Born in Clark, NJ, Phyllis grew up in Newark before settling to South Plainfield in 1973. 

She enjoyed her time sewing and cooking for her family and friends. Phyllis, known as “Sassy Granny”, will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, Albert Spence; son, Al Spence, Jr. and grandson, Jake Stria; surviving are three daughters, Donna Cantarella and her husband Pat of South Plainfield, Debbie Peters and her husband Scott of Wall, NJ and Hannah Stria of Washington, NJ. 

She will also be missed by grandchildren, Pat Cantarella and Paul Cantarella and wife Kara, Jordyn Stria and Dakoda Peters and many nieces and nephews.

Funerals services will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023 beginning at 9:30AM in the  McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, followed by a 10:30AM funeral mass at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, South Plainfield.

Entombment will follow in Hollywood Memorial Park Mausoleum, Union.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 4-8pm in the funeral home.
