Obituary of Antonina Caravello
Toms River, NJ - Antonina Caravello, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at her residence. Born in New York City to the late Giovanni and Fortunata (Cassara) Ciatto, she lived in Fanwood until she married her husband, the late Angelo A. Caravello. They settled in Piscataway where she lived for over thirty-five years raising her family. She worked for Mattel Toy Factory and finally settled down as a full time Mother.
Also known as “Nina/Toni,” she enjoyed making her very own homemade Sicilian meals. Antonina welcomed everyone with a great big smile and enjoyed feeding all who came to visit her, especially her family and “no one ever left hungry.” She was caring and compassionate and always went out of her way for others.
Antonina will always be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, who was very proud of her heritage. Prior to settling to Toms River, she was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church.
Antonina was predeceased by her husband Angelo, parents, Giovanni and Fortunata Ciatto and her brother’s Rosario, Antonino and sister Rosie. She is survived by her son Michael and daughter in law Melissa, her daughter Donna and companion Gregory, her sister Lucy and her brother and sister in law Salvatore and Lillian.
She will be sadly missed by her entire family including the many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and her two granddaughters; Angelina and Cristina whom she cherished the most.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854 on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 6pm until 9pm. On Saturday, April 1, 2023, please gather directly to St. Frances Cabrini RC Church, 208 Bound Brook Avenue in Piscataway for a 9:00am funeral mass. Antonina will be laid to rest beside her husband at the family plot in Resurrection Burial Park.
