Obituary of Joseph Keleman
South Plainfield –Joseph Keleman, 90, passed away Friday, May 12, 2023, at AristaCare of Norwood Terrace in Plainfield surrounded by family.
Born to the late Vilma and Steve Keleman, Joseph was raised in Manville and was one of four, the only brother to Vilma, Elizabeth, and Helen. He resided in several local towns, where he raised his family with his wife, Irene, before settling in South Plainfield, later in life. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1955 after serving our country during the Korean War. Following his discharge, Joseph soon began working as a machine operator at the Bridgewater Quarry, located on Chimney Rock Road.
An Avid sports fan, Joseph could often be found cheering on the Phillies during the baseball season, and the Dallas Cowboys during the football season. He also enjoyed playing various games on his IPad, bingo was one of his favorites, visiting the casinos in the area, and spending time with his beloved wife as well as their cat, Rainbow. He was also a member of the Bound Brook VFW for several years.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Joseph enjoyed spending time in the company of his family and friends and will be remembered as a true provider.
Predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Irene Keleman; he is survived by four children, Debbie McGuire (Tim) of Alabama, Irene Fiorentino (Tony) of South Plainfield, Joseph of Piscataway and Steven of Green Brook; grandchild, Brian, as well as many extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023, in South Plainfield Funeral Home (www.southplainfieldfuneralhome.com), 2456 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield NJ 07080, from 4 PM to 6 PM.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home beginning at 5:30 PM.
Cremation will be held privately.
