Middlesex, NJ – Richard Charles Scott, 80, passed away at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Somerset in Somerville on Friday, May 19, 2023.  Born and raised in Bloomfield to the late Robert and Arline (Chown) Scott, Rich has been a resident of Middlesex for over thirty years. 

He worked for Philips Lighting for forty-one years and was a life member with the Beechwood Heights Volunteer Fire Company in Middlesex.  Rich loved to cruise, watch the NY Giants and Yankees and as he would say, he enjoyed visiting his money down in Atlantic City.  Above all things, Rich loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

Predeceased by his brother Robert M. Scott, Rich leaves behind his loving wife of forty years, Judith (Kasperan) Scott, his children; Jennifer Scott (Rebecca,) Richard Scott, Jr. (Jaime,) and Kimberly Grant (Paul.)  He will be missed dearly by his three grandsons; Ronald and Robert Grant and Aydan Rock as well as his sister Joann Guerriero (Anthony) and by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm and on Friday, May 26, 2023 beginning 10:00am. 

On Friday, May 26, 2023 at 11:00am, the Middlesex Fire Department Chaplain, Richard Malt, will conduct the funeral service for Rich followed by private cremation.  The fireman’s service on Thursday will be held during the 7pm-9pm visitation, exact time to be announced shortly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Rich’s name sent to Steeplechase Cancer Center at Somerset Healthcare Foundation, 110 Rehill Avenue, Somerville, NJ 08876 would be appreciated.  Please note “Steeplechase Cancer Center” on the memo line.
