Segismundo Isidro, 87 passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 6, 2023.

Segismundo was born on January 5, 1936 in Regla, Havana, Cuba; his parents were Segismundo Isidro and Laura Exposito.  He was an only child growing up among his many aunts, uncles and surrounded by his many cousins that were like siblings.

He married Margarita Valdés, also from Regla, Havana, Cuba on April 14, 1957.  Upon their marriage they immigrated to the United States.  He was proud to say that his first job in the United States was as a busboy in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, New York City, working hard, appreciating the political freedoms and better opportunities in the United States. He was proud to become a United States citizen. Often, he would share stories of his fond memories of growing up in Cuba, his hometown of Regla, the family, culture, food, sayings, songs, dances and spirit.

After completing his certification in ceramic magnetics, he started his career at General Instruments, Newark, NJ; moving to Ceramic Elements, South Plainfield, NJ and National Magnetics based in Bethlehem, PA where he served before retiring in 1999.

He was affectionately known as “Papi, Izzy, Amigo, Primo, Mundino.” He enjoyed the NY Yankees, singing, dancing salsa, vacationing with his family, eating seafood, swimming in warm ocean waters, visiting friends and family in Florida, cheering for both his grandsons’ basketball and football games, and spreading his smile and kindness to all that knew him.

Predeceased by his wife Margarita (Valdés) Isidro, Andres Valdés, brother-in-law; Alejandrina Valdés Zamora, sister-in-law; and Isidro cousins: Carlos, Julio, Julita, Fernando, and Orgelina; also, Otilia Almestica who he was devoted to for many years.

He leaves his loving family: son, David Isidro and Sherry Bunce; daughter, Laura Isidro Haus and William Haus; grandsons Anthony Isidro and Daniel Haus. Evelio Zamora, brother-in- law, Denise Zamora, niece, Yolanda Isidro, cousin and his many relatives in Cuba and in the United States.  Also, Debbie and Joe Richard, along with their children: Shana, Christopher and Brianna were very loved as well. He will be missed by his dedicated caregivers Ana Maria Guillen and Monica Muguruza, along with the Haus Family.
