Middlesex – James R. Smith, Sr.79, passed away Monday, June 26, 2023 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital –Somerset in Somerville.

 

Born and raised in Nanticoke, PA, Jim settled to Middlesex Borough in 1962 and has been a resident since.  He worked for Ferris Brothers as driver and in sales until retirement in 2016.

 

A selfless man, Jim devoted his time to the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, holding position of treasurer as well as with the Bound Brook Moose Lodge 988 where he was sworn in as Vice President.  Jim also held a treasury chair with the Moose Lodge District 6 of New Jersey.

 

In his spare time, he enjoyed watching NASCAR and NCIS.

 

Predeceased by his  grandson, Jimmy Smith, III and three sisters, Roberta Killian, Sally Yudachak and Anne Grabinski; surviving are his wife of 26 years, Linda (Brink) Smith; two sons, James Smith, Jr. and wife Tracy and Joseph Smith and Andrea; step daughter Michelle Tharp, brother, Thomas Smith, brother in law Joe Yudachak and nieces and nephews.

 

He will also be missed by his six grandchildren.

 

Family and friends may gather on Monday, July 3, 2023 from 4-7PM in the Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road Middlesex NJ 08846.  Funeral services will begin at 6PM.

 

Cremation will be held privately.
