Middlesex – Nicholas J. DiGrazia, 78, passed away suddenly Friday, July 7, 2023 at home in Middlesex.

Born and raised in Middlesex, Nicholas proudly served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Cambria, 1964-1968.  He worked for Paige Electric in Union until his retirement at which time he became a beloved crossing guard for the Middlesex Police Department.

Nick had a love for classic cars and the 50's & 60's golden oldies music.  He had a great voice and loved to sing, and many a time would be seen with a microphone in his hand at cruise nights and car shows singing along with the DJ’s music.  He was a past member of the Street Dreams Car Club and the American Legion Post 306. He also volunteered with Rawhide Rescue of Warren, rescuing and fostering dogs for over 15 years.

Nick was predeceased by both of his parents and his siblings, Anthony DiGrazia, Louis "Tinker"DiGrazia and Jeffrey DiGrazia.  Surviving is his companion of 37 years, Susan DeCoste, her daughter Christina DeCoste and her partner Dr. Charles Kearns, all of Middlesex; and his brother Robert DiGrazia and his wife Mimi DiGrazia.  He will be greatly missed by a number of other adopted family members who loved and cared for him, as well as the many friends he had made over the years while living in Middlesex.

A Memorial and Celebration of Nick's Life will be held in the near future for his family and friends to attend to listen to his tunes and dance the night away as he would have wanted them to do.  Anyone choosing to make a donation in remembrance of Nick please consider Rawhide Rescue of Warren, the Shriners Hospital for Children, Children's Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick, or any other charity of their choice.
