Obituary of Antonio De Santis
South Plainfield – Antonio De Santis, 89, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023 at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Born in Melizzano, Italy, Antonio and his beloved wife, Maria (Razzano) immigrated to the United States in 1971, settling in South Plainfield with their children. He was a dedicated member of the community, working at the Plainfield Country Club for over 35 years prior to his retirement in 2006.
At the Country Club, Antonio took great pride in his job as a mechanic, perfecting the equipment and tinkering with gadgets, a skill and hobby he mastered in all areas of life. He had a passion for gardening and spending time with his family and friends. But, his greatest joy in life was watching his family grow and surround him, accepting and loving all who came along during the years.
He is predeceased by his son, Nicola De Santis, who passed in March of 2021, and two siblings, Concetta Calabrese and Mario De Santis; surviving are his wife of 69 years, Maria De Santis; two daughters, Lina De Santis and Rosa Anna Szeliga and her husband Richard, and daughter-in-law, Patricia De Santis.
He will also be missed by his six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends across the world.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 9AM in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church South at 10AM.
Entombment will follow in Holy Redeemer.
Family and friends may gather in the funeral home on Monday from 4PM to 8PM
