Douglas Leon Duschl, Sr.
Age: 76 * Middlesex
Middlesex, NJ – Douglas Leon “Duke” Duschl, Sr., 76, passed away on August 13, 2023 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Somerset in Somerville. Born in Plainfield to the late Leon and Elsie (Remley) Duschl, Duke grew up in Dunellen and settled in Middlesex fifty-three years ago.
Duke was a proud veteran who served his country during Vietnam in the United States Navy as a Boatswain Mate Third Class. He worked for PSE&G as a Special Fitter with the Plainfield Division and loved spending time with family. He enjoyed his westerns and the 50’s, was an avid Elvis fan and always rooted for the Dodgers and the Minnesota Vikings.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Marcia Ann in 2017 and brother-in-law Jack Sutton, Duke leaves behind his sons; Douglas Jr. and his wife Frances of Whitehouse Station, Mark and his wife Donna of Piscataway, and his “adopted” son John Plocic of Wheelock, Vermont. He is also survived by his grandson Stephen, granddaughter Jessica Garney and her husband Art, greatgranddaughter Rayne Garney and two sisters; Nancy Morgan and her husband Dave of Dunellen and Sandy Sutton of Massachusetts. He was known to be the best Papaw to the late Mason and current Huck, his four legged companions and will be missed by his extended family and close friends.
Visitation will be held at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 4pm until 8pm and on Saturday, August 19, 2023 beginning 10:00am. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:00 am followed by burial at The New Cemetery in Somerville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations sent in Duke’s name to the National MS Society (www.NationalMSSociety.org) would be appreciated.
