Obituary of Raymond S. Lizura
Piscataway, NJ – Raymond S. Lizura, 88, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, August 17th, 2023 at RWJ University Hospital in Somerville. Raymond was born and raised in Perth Amboy, and was the son of the late Stephen and Anna Lizura.
Ray graduated from both St. Mary’s High School in Perth Amboy, and Rider College, and served in the U. S. Navy for two years during the Korean War and was honorably discharged.
Predeceased by the love of his life, Patricia (Murphy) to whom he was married to for 49 years, Ray leaves behind his four children; Elizabeth Lizura-Romero (Luis) of Galloway N.J., Joseph Lizura (Tamie) of La Quinta, CA, Timothy Lizura of Jersey City, N.J., Stacey Benedetto (Frank) of Fair Haven, N.J. He also leaves behind his grandchildren; Taylor, Madison, Jessica, Nicholas, James, Jack, Alec, and Celia. He also leaves behind his sister Joan Slocki.
Ray became a Certified Public Accountant, and was proud to open his own accounting firm, Raymond S. Lizura & Company, and enjoyed working with his clients until his passing.
As a proud member of the Middlesex Elks, he served as Treasurer for many years. Raymond also belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Holy Name Society at Our Lady of Fatima Church. He was an avid golfer, enjoying years of golfing with the Piscataway Senior Golf League.
Raymond was an active member of Piscataway Township, and served as a member of the School Board in the late 1970’s.
Visitation will be held at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 4pm until 8pm with an Elks Service beginning at 7:45pm. Family and friends may gather to the funeral home on Thursday at 9:45 am followed by a 10:30 am funeral mass at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Piscataway. Ray will be laid to rest beside his wife at Resurrection Burial Park also in Piscataway.
