Obituary of Judith Bienvenue

Piscataway, NJ – Judith Bienvenue, 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 20 at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA to the late Leo and Dorothy Oberlies, Judy was raised in Newark and settled in Piscataway in 1975 with her husband Edward. She has been a long-time resident since.

Judy took great pride in raising her son Michael, but after the passing of her husband, she entered the workforce and became an insurance adjuster in 1994, until her retirement in 2005. A proud mom, she was always volunteering for school events or extracurriculars. Judy could often be found sewing flags and uniforms for the school band while Michael was in School. The support then shifted when Michael had a son, Judy was always there to pick him up from school, attend sporting events, or just help out in any way possible.

Aside from spending time with family, she enjoyed gardening, needlepoint, and cooking. Judy also enjoyed traveling, both solo and with friends, or meeting friends on her travels. She took annual trips to Disney and traveled internationally to a variety of different countries. Most of all, she will be remembered for her big heart. Always looking to help others and support those around her.

Predeceased by her husband Edward, and brother Leo Jr., Judy is survived by her son Michael, his wife Shannon, and their son Walter. She will also be missed by her sister Mariann, and Aunt Joan Monahan, as well as a host of extended relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held at Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ, on Friday, August 25, 2023, from 4 PM to 8 PM.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home beginning at 7:30 PM.

Following a private cremation, Judy will be entombed at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Market Street Mission, Alzheimer's Research Foundation, or the Live Strong Foundation, in Judy's name.
