James "Jimmy" Amick, Jr. Obituary

Linden, NJ – James Amick, Jr., 53, passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. 


Born to the late James Amick and Louise (Alexander) Amick, Jimmy was a lifelong resident of South Plainfield. Over the years, he helped his father, working for the family construction company, as well as in the Lawn Mower shop his father owned in town. It was here that he developed a true passion for fixing things, which carried him through his professional life. It was working on cars that Jimmy truly enjoyed. Working as a mechanic, he took every opportunity possible to work on vehicles of all sorts. Most recently, he was employed as a diesel mechanic for VCMR Truck Repair and Collision Shop in Linden, NJ. 


Predeceased by his parents, Jimmy leaves behind his son Nikos Amick and his fiancé Kayla, Nikos's mother, Stacey Amick, and her sister Laurian Cochrane, as well as a host of extended relatives and friends. 


A visitation will be held at the McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 4 PM to 8 PM. 


Cremation services will be held privately.
