Obituary of Laura Rose Nordhaus
Laura Rose (Pierangelli) Nordhaus, 89, passed away Friday, September 29, 2023, at her home in Piscataway.
Born in Plainfield, Laura grew up in North Plainfield. A natural caretaker, Laura received her R.N. from St. Peter’s University Hospital then continued her education at Seton Hall University where she received her B.S.N. She worked much of her career at Saint Peter’s Hospital, caring for the sick in many different departments, from the ER to the neo-natal unit to the ICU. She retired after over 50 years of service from Perth Amboy Hospital where she was still working in the triage unit, selflessly taking care of others in their worst moments.
Laura loved the Jersey shore, taking pleasure in annual trips with her family and always thought getting her feet wet was like an act of renewal for her. She was an avid reader and loved her murder mysteries, especially Agatha Christie. She had a musical heart, always singing when she was happy and unhappy and would listen to her favorites whenever she could, from Frank Sinatra and Elvis. Above all, she cherished the moments and time she was able to spend with her grandchildren and children. In the last few years, Laura had the opportunity to live in North Carolina with her daughter, then Washington State with her son before settling back to New Jersey with her youngest son.
Predeceased by her husband Lloyd who died in 1989, she is survived by her three children, daughter Victoria and her husband Walter “Bud” Finnell and their children Jeffrey and Aaron, son Christopher and his children Brian and Kyle and his wife Guislen, and son Vincent and his wife Lisa and their children Rebecca, Samantha, and Vincent.
