Born to the late Arthur and Philippine Keil, Bob grew up in Kenilworth where he graduated high school. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Once enlisted, he was stationed in Brooklyn, NY, where he worked as a store clerk for the Navy. It was through his service that he met the brother of his future wife, Carol Ann, who later introduced the two.

Outside of work, he enjoyed planning vacations and traveling, grilling, cooking, and baking, swimming, especially on family trips to the beach, and clipping coupons. He was always looking for a good deal.
Prior to moving to South Plainfield, he was an active parishioner of St. Joseph RC Church in Toms River, where he was a Eucharistic Minister. Since moving, he has been an active parishioner of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield.
Above all else, Bob, known to everyone in the family as Opa, loved his family. Spending time with them was what meant the most to him. Through the years, caring for his wife as she battled cancer, spending time with his children, helping them in every way he could, through a variety of struggles, and being there for his grandchildren were the moments he cherished and held close to his heart.
Predeceased by his wife Carol Ann (nee Lukach), son Austin Keil, and brother Bernard Keil, Bob is survived by his daughter Carissa Fish and her husband Christopher, and his three granddaughters, Ceairah Keil, Sophia Fish, and Sarah Sweeney, as well as a host of extended relatives and friends.
